The Kingdom of Cambodia is considered a “biodiversity hotspot” in mainland Southeast Asia. Plants are very important in many parts of Cambodian day life and culture. They are eaten as food, made into medicines, used as decoration, and are incorporated into specific rituals for many rites of passage and community events.
We began Plant Planet Plate as a way to share, safeguard, and celebrate the bio(cultural) diversity of Cambodia with plant enthusiasts all over the world.
Since, Plant Planet Plate has grown to include other locations outside of Cambodia. Plant Planet Plate Limburg, formed in April 2023, applies similar plant humanities approaches to document and celebrate the ethnobotanical legacies of plants found in the south of The Netherlands.
We are always looking to connect and collaborate with others working towards biocultural diversity celebration, protection, and preservation. Are you doing something similar? Please get in touch with us!
